Yesterday I visited Toledo What a beautiful city! Loved it!
ALCÁZAR: Situado en la colina más alta de la ciudad, se encuentra este edificio que fue mandado construir por el emperador Carlos V. Su primer y principal arquitecto fue Alonso de Covarrubias.
ALCÁZAR: Located on the highest hill in the city, is this building that was built by the Emperor Charles V. His first and principal architect was Alonso de Covarrubias.
SANTA CRUZ MUSEUM: Hospital founded by Cardinal Mendoza, with traces of Covarrubias. It contains important collections of Fine Arts, Archaeology and Industrial Arts. Ceramic Collection Carranza. Emphasize its Toledo paint samples of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with paintings by El Greco, Luis Tristan etc.
CATHEDRAL: Begun in 1226 by order of Archbishop Ximénez de Rada, under the reign of Fernando III El Santo, is completed in 1493. Stresses the Treasury-Locket Arfe Custody, the Chapter House, the Sacristy, Choir and Chancel.
CHURCH OF SANTO TOME: From the beginning of s. XIV, architectural highlights its magnificent Mudejar tower square brick plant. It houses the master paintings of El Greco, "El Entierro del Señor de Orgaz".
MONASTERIO SAN JUAN DE LOS REYES: Monasterio franciscano del s. XV. Mezcla del gótico y mudéjar. Mandado construir por la reina Isabel La Católica (1476) al maestro Juan Guas. Destaca su iglesia, el retablo del altar mayor y el claustro.
SAN JUAN REYES MONASTERY: Franciscan Monastery of s. XV. Mixture of Gothic and Moorish. Commissioned by Queen Isabella the Catholic (1476) Juan Guas teacher. The best is his church, the high altar and cloister.
MARÍA LA BLANCA SYNAGOGUE: From the beginning of s. XIII, has five separated by horseshoe arches with plaster and octagonal pillars with capitals of wasp nest ships.
WHERE TO EAT: I recommend the 24 Alfileritos restaurant, located in the historic center of the city, perfectly combines art and tradition. The building is beautiful. Do not miss the Iberian burger with candied cherrys, garlic mayonnaise and BBQ sauce pistachios. I also recommend the milhoja white chocolate, lemon and yogurt.
